Traditional textile art tzute hand woven in the highlands of Chichicastenango Guatemala. Woven on a back strap loom in two panels & joined with a hand embroidered seam. Decorated with beautiful embroidered geometric animals including cats with spiral tails. Entirely handcrafted!
Utilitarian
Tzute are square or rectangle cloth back strap woven with patterns traditional for different villages. Used by Mayan women for carrying home items from market, covering baskets, carrying personal possessions like a purse, a head covering in the sun and so much more.
