Measures: 22”x22.5”Here, we’ve picked up an unusual item we knew nothing about but just liked it. So, we needed to educate ourselves. So, we turned to two knowledgeable people, a woman from Guatemala that sells these on Etsy. and Dr. Lori, who has her PHD in antiquities. These panels are hand woven and then embroidered (no pattern). The thread used to embroider the figures is dyed wool using plants and vegetables. The item is called a servilleta and was commonly used as a woman’s head covering and also to cover food. The color and subject matter represent fertility. We picked these at an estate sale where a world traveler had lived.
