Well, these are different.....!
Possibly homemade stirrups?   The welds look pretty amateurish/poorly done.    I actually had a good laugh with friends that maybe they were created by a gear-head type guy whose girl dragged him reluctantly into trail riding and he defiantly made these in order to have SOMETHING that interested him along :-)
If you have any interesting theories or actual information about these, I'd love to hear from you!
