    Description

Guatemalan Colorful Embroidered Artwork, Wall Hanging. Condition is "Used".
Acatenango is a stratovolcano in Guatemala, close to the city of Antigua. The volcano has two peaks, Pico Mayor (Highest Peak) and Yepocapa (3,880 m) which is also known as Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters). Acatenango is joined with Volcán de Fuego and collectively the volcano complex is known as La Horqueta.
Over the peaks is the colorful quetzal, the currency of Guatemala, named after the national bird of Guatemala, the resplendent quetzal. In ancient Mayan culture, the quetzal bird's tail feathers were used as currency.
They is much more history. This is a Mayan calendar type wall hanging. I bought it in Guatemala in the late ‘90’s and had it mounted and framed and hanging in my travels room. I’m moving so I took it down and out of the frame. It’s beautifully embroidered and a colorful addition to any art collection.
    It measures 32” wide x 30.5” long.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
