    Description

This is A specimen copy of an Allied Van Lines, Inc. Certificate of Contribution.  A Certificate of Contribution was a document verifying what was essentially a short term loan to the corporation.  In this case the certificate, earned interest at 1% in excess of the prime commercial rate of the Harris Trust and Savings Bank, Chicago, Illinois existing on the date of the certificate and matured in two years.   The certificate was engraved by the American Bank Note Company.  It was signed by Allied's then President and its Secretary.  The contributors were required to be Allied Van Lines Agents.  From its inception, in 1928, until the late 1980's, Allied was said to be owned by its family of agents. The agents owned all of the voting stock of the corporation.  I think, all of the certificates were dated December 1, 1969, but there may have been some issued on other dates; however, there are not too many of these documents in existence.  An interesting piece especially if you are a collector of historic transportation related, as well as financial, documents.  This documents is about 8 by 12 inches in size and is in excellent condition.  I combine shipping to save you money if possible in the case of multiple purchases. So, if you purchase or win more than one of my listings, let me know. Do not pay until I send you a revised combined invoice. Thanks for looking and good luck.
